RISE Philosophy

RISE is all about building upon the artistic talents in our local community. To that end, I have donated space at RISE to artists who might not otherwise have a place to showcase their work, and have exchanged my own photography for artist's work, to both foster and encourage their work and my own. I'm hoping, though more gatherings and events, RISE will become a space artists can converge in, exchange ideas in and be inspired by. This, I believe, is the strength and promise of RISE.

At RISE, it is our mission to provide a space, which artists can grow and thrive in. To support this effort, RISE regularly holds off-the-wall events, which include such shows as: Wearable Art, Motorcycle-Themed Show, Woodworking Show, a Jewlers Show, a Ten-Year-Old and Under Show, or a Food-As-Art-Show.

In the future, RISE hopes to host a series of events, including fundraisers to support local organizations, which are inspired by local artists and their varied arts. The very force of our vision centers on Maine-inspired art, and too, its promotion, by building upon a community of Maine artists and providing them a space in which to exhibit their art in space they can thrive in.

For many new artists, who have been a part of RISE, these events serve as a starting point for the expansion of their work, and too, the timeless discovery of courage it takes to showcase their pieces. In time, I'd like all the artists who have become part of RISE to create their own Co-op, and run it however it evolves and is envisioned.

I believe, by gathering together Maine-based artists and providing them with both a forum and a space to build upon their art and community, RISE will continue to create a national stir through its artists' notoriety and its unique position in the international web-based markets.

In essence, RISE is growing, and with it, the community of Maine artists and its art. As such, this notoriety and its building community, is contributing to Maine's overall economy. RISE's commitment to its Maine artists, the continued building of its art community, the continued evolution of the space and what it can provide to the community, is central to its vision.
