ABOUT THE DESIGNER DS Bullock is from everywhere and nowhere, having lived all over the United States and with hopes of further travels ahead. She learned to sew when she was seven years old and has been designing and making her own clothing ever since. DSB chose to pursue a degree in fine arts at Indiana University instead of one in fashion or merchandising and continues to paint and exhibit her artwork independent of RRR. She currently spends her time between Detroit and Maine when she is not on tour with her band. She is the mother of four cats and a beagle and plans to extend her brood one day to include a menagerie of farm animals and fish.
ABOUT THE COMPANY Road Rash Rubber exists to address, in whatever ways it discovers, aspects of consumer waste and cultural disregard for the sustainability and stewardship of our common home, the Earth. Recognizing the damage that the estimated 290 million tires thrown to landfills each year (in America alone) can cause, our vision is to make creative and delightful use of the inner tube scrap in order to provide consumers with products that they can feel good about using. Raising awareness of environmental issues of all kinds is our passion and we work to employ as many sustainable practices as possible while we blossom and grow. We strive to combine our environmental efforts with artisan quality, crafting unique and timelessly made pieces that celebrate the intricacies and innovation of design. Central to our ethics is support of the small business, the local crafts people, developing a respectful and collaborative working environment, and active participation in community through volunteerism and education.
